Apex is a quaint and quiet town just twenty minutes outside of the big urban city that is Raleigh, North Carolina. It has a super special place in my heart because it is also my little small town since I live minutes away. It has so many great local shops, businesses and restaurants. The town does a phenomenal job putting together events for the community throughout the year as well. If you have never been, it is definitely worth visiting and I am sure you will fall in love with it just like I did!

One of my favorite stops when I am traveling downtown is Mission Market! Their açaí bowls are so so good, especially on a hot summer day! They have lots of different options for bowls, smoothies and parfaits. They also have sandwiches, coffee and tea. The ingredients they use are always fresh and everything I have had is YUM. You can sit at the tables outside on a nice spring day, too, which I love!

Calling all families with train lovers! Located in Apex the North Carolina Railway Museum and New Hope Valley Railway is dedicated to the preservation of railway history in North Carolina. As an added bonus, New Hope Valley Railway runs an hour long excursion ride on vintage trains! They also host a really fun family event at Christmas time and Santa is almost always there!

BONUS: A fun event that I did not include in the image below is Apex’s annual Fourth of July festival downtown! Olde Fashioned Fourth of July is a two day event held on Monday, July 3rd and Tuesday, July 4th. On July 3rd they will have Fireworks Frenzy at Hunter Street Park starting at 5pm. There will be food trucks and activities for the whole family until fireworks at 9:30pm. Then, on July 4th from 9am-1pm, there will be tons of activities downtown including games, inflatables, Parade of Wheels (starts at 12:00pm) and ends with a soaking from the Apex Fire Department! Salem Street shuts down for this event and many local businesses are out and about as well. @townofapex has more information as well as Apexnc.org.

It was really hard for me to decide what to highlight in this blog post because I really love so many things about Apex! Please make sure you check out the image I created above to see some more about my sweet small town! It is truly near and dear to me, so please let me know what your favorite part about it is when you come!
